I suspect its because in some cases he is working with players he will replace when opportunity and finance permit. Supporters should not make the mistake of thinking the current Everton team is how Martinez envisages the completion of the project.
Everton is still very much a work in progress. He wants things quicker and sharper, and it will happen. I think our current centre backs are copping out with their aimless passing to each other, followed by the inevitable Moyes style welly. That will change when Stones gets back, and the next 18 months will see more purposeful playing out of defence.
Agree totally with this. We might even have an average season this year, but he has had only 3 transfer windows and cannot overhaul things completely in a short space of time. And personally I want him to be given the time to change, which will allow for a a poor season possibly.
I think Besic is an example of what we will see. I don´t care if people are freaking out about his errors, he is quick and technically good and no fear about passing forward or carrying it forward.
People get in a mood over current form and talk as if this is what it will be like always. Bit tired of saying it, but most fans have no patience.
