just saw the highlights....Mucha has probably played his last game for us. The first goal speaks for itself, but he should have done better with the second too.

Soft yellows for drenthe, but he should have known better for the second challenge.

I wish someone would take that hat off Cech and slap him across the face with it

Just saw them too. Mucha should of done better with the second but what was Fellaini and the rest of our midfield playing at. We should be shutting down those central areas, 18-25yds away from goal much better than what we did. In fact, that's something I don't like with us in past seasons is that we defend too deep and our closing down is not sharp enough. Hence, the high number of deflected/own goals we concede. Drenthe first yellow was never one.

I can't believe I couldn't watch one of the most exciting matches of the season so far. ARGH! Stupid work. Just watched highlights - and wow.

Bummer about the injuries, though we'll get to see some variety from the side.

Just judging from the highlights, although he got sent off, Drenthe brings some creativity to us that we've just been missing. He stands up to the defense too - strong little bugger. I like him.

Glad to hear that Bily had a good game - for the 892nd time I hope it helps him turn a corner. We'll need him this weekend (although we'll probably see Osman).

Howard will have to have a great game against Man U. Devastating for Mucha, and I hope he doesn't get banished (rumor is Hahneman is still being shipped out to Seattle in January). Everyone has a howler.

Heitinga looked seriously rusty. Which shouldn't be a surprise.

Bummer of a loss.

My two main annoyances:
1. Drenthe, our best player last few games IMO will miss the Man U game.
2. I think we would've won if we'd played Howard in goal.

I felt that the starting 11 were fantastic. We looked great on the attack and I hope we continue this style against Man U.I think we could have had this game if not for the subs. Unfortunate about Neville, would've been great to have seen Coleman on for him instead of Hibbert but understandable. Hasn't Cahill been picking up knocks every week lately along with his terrible form right now? Should have gone for Osman/Barkley and then put Vellios on. Straq brought us down to 10 men, he disappeared from the game completely. I'm going to give Straq more time, it's a big adjustment for him. Playing him in a massively important match though did not seem like a great idea to me, Vellios would have been more suited.

We played well it just wasn't our day. I was seriously impressed with Bily, Coleman, and Saha. It's great seeing these guys get back in form, we look so much more exciting with them playing. Drenthe was great today but he gave away some needless fouls and just didn't pass enough. He got into great areas but had no end result.

Horrific refereeing for the first yellow though. And the second sentence I'm fairly certain your describing a certain South African who left us some time back, no?

Got to agree with that. Apart from Jagielka, Osman and Coleman, that was probably Moyes' strongest XI so there's no doubting he was taking this game seriously. Bit weird to start a keeper who is lacking match practice and motivation.

I agree too. I'm all for rotating when Howard is going through a poor spell, but if it aint broken.....

Well when else is he supposed to get match practise?

People are only making an issue out of it because of his error. Howard has made errors to cost us goals plenty of times, it was just an unfortunate cock up that could of happened to any keeper.

Unless he was constantly doing it in training but i doubt that very much.

If memory serves me correct, he has made many errors every time he has stepped in for Howard. If you're going into a game knowing there will probably be a goal in it, either side, then your keeper's importance is magnified two-fold. If we're playing lower league opposition, by all means throw him in.

XD fair point but different in the execution. Pienaar overplayed the ball instead of just taking a shot and Drenthe ball hogs instead of passing it off. In the end there is no product 'cause Pienaar didn't take a chance and Drenthe didn't pass or he ended up losing the ball. Guess I'm asking for too much otherwise Pienaar and Drenthe would be as good as Iniesta and Xavi ;)

Manchester didn't look like scoring for much of the game, but neither did we. Although I thought we were more likely to score.
