I think you're taking the post how you want to take it by suggesting that i'm saying it's hard winning 2 league titles in 3 seasons, when i'm not. My point is that loads of clubs are capable of having a massive fall from one season to the next. Do you think Chelsea fans were happy about going from being the Champions to 10th in the league?

Maybe the phrase wasn't the best one to use then but I meant it in the way that Chelsea had a big drop off from going from title winners to 10th. I also wasn't using Chelsea as an example of a club that have had it hard recently, I was using them as an example to show that even the clubs at the very top can have significant drop offs from one season to the next.

I do think it is typical of Everton to have all that optimism in the Summer and then find ourselves where we are now. Suppose it depends on what era you've been a fan too. I've been watching the club properly since the late 90's, around 97/98, so i've never known Everton to be a club that does anything other than let us down.

Villarreal, Dinamo Bucharest and Fiorentina in Europe, the Semi Finals against Chelsea in 08, the RS in 2012 and City and United in 2016 etc.

Still don't think this current situation is even close to the dire situations we found ourselves in during the 1990's though. Not like that's much consolation given the ambition we supposedly had this summer, I know.
