Everton, the nations 2nd team

Not a good thread title that is it?

Seems like for months on every fan forum, gash Facebook group & sky's silly comment sections, we're in everyone's hearts. I have read countless times stuff like "they play the right kind of football and I hope they get into Europe / get forth / succeed where Moyes didn't" etc etc.
From some of our neighbours who want a euro derby to the blues half of Manchester who just want Utd to utterly fail, to London, Scotland and beyond it seems everyone wants us to succeed.
Idk how to take it if I am honest. Half of me is proud of the classy way our club and fans conduct themselves week in week out, and the other half feels a bit patronised! We ARE a grand old team but we've had grey skies so long i still (even at this stage of this season, I mean come on look how boss we are?!) won't believe. Not quite yet...
So what do others think about all this love? Least it's better than 99% of the media right. Right?

If more people are interested in us, then more people will watch us which means more televised games and more money.

The perception from the majority is that we were dull under moyes and we're now sexy under Martinez!

Got to start getting lairy at aways to put a stop to this. Can't be having people thinking we're soft. Just a season or two with most of us carrying and people will get the message. Will probably only need a couple of actual shankings

Maybe the reason we are everyone's second team is that we never hurt anyone, I for one will be glad when this stops as it means we damaging teams chances of getting into Europe.

This. I'd rather everyone hate us and want us to lose because they see us as a threat.

Everton are my second team. If Palace ever get to the point where we see Everton as a threat instead of a potential hiding I'll be flipping ecstatic. (And very very old.)

Everton are respected by everyone. A classy club who will always be there or thereabouts, trying to play the game in the right manner and offering more then football to the community.

Unlike another team very close by who are a bunch of classless cowboys, reviled by every right thinking footy fan for being nothing but trouble.

Wrong mate, everyone loves them because of their famous atmosphere, knowledgeable fans and because they don't spend money like Chelsea and City (but more than everyone else).

That's true. You cant expect to win trophies having only spent around half a billion in the last 10 years. They're at a disadvantage with 'dee oil clubs, lad'.
