Obviously we're all aware of the bucket loads of cash sloshing about for premier league clubs following the latest bidding war for TV rights. As it stands, each club receives an even share from 50% of television revenue, with the 25% distributed to teams based on merit / final positions and the other 25% on actual fees for teams per match shown. We as Evertonians often grumbled about how rarely we appeared on sky or BT etc, but looking at our initial fixtures this season:
Vs Watford (H)
Vs Southampton (A) - BT
Vs Man City (H) - Sky
Vs Barnsley (A) - Sky *LC
Vs Spurs (A) - Sky
Vs Chelsea (H) - BT
Vs Swansea (A)
Vs West Brom (A) - Sky
Vs Liverpool (H) - Sky
Vs Man Utd (H) - Setanta* Ireland only
Vs Arsenal (A) - Sky
Vs Sunderland (H) - BT
Which all means that from our opening 12 games this year, 10 are being shown live on tv. I can't recall any other times where we've received so much air time. Surely that's got to be a record for Everton? And also therefore guarantees even more revenue for next year based on distribution of funds for those teams chosen for live televised matches.
Just another lump sum in the pockets of our thrifty board...
