I subscribe to something called fcbusiness magazine.

It frequently outlines things clubs are doing commercially - a couple of recent examples with regards to technology;

Man City have launched 'Match Day Wear';

Diego Gigliani, Director of Media and Fan Relationship Management at MCFC, said:

“CityMatchday Wear is another example of how we are constantly exploring and adopting new technology with the ultimate goal of improving the fan experience and strengthening fans’ engagement with the Club. We recognise the smart watch market is still in its early stages but its popularity is projected to increase rapidly as new players come into the market. We’re thrilled to get in early and start discovering ways to tap into the devices’ potential.

“With millions of City fans worldwide, many won’t be able to watch all our matches live, whether in the stadium or on TV. For those fans who want to keep up with all the action but are unable to watch the game, having CityMatchday Wear on their Android watches will allow them to go about their busy days while receiving key updates related to our matches as they happen.”

Man Utd and Southampton have something called Qjacker

Pre-ordering through Qjacker begins 24 hours before kick-off. Simply make sure your order is with us no later than two hours before the game begins and your items will be ready and waiting for you, whether you want to collect them when you arrive at the stadium or during the half-time interval.

There are lots more here

Other examples include WiFi installations so fans can be connected during games. Venue Check Ins (Adding a Like to their Facebook Page) that discount against something, so a check in 1 hour before kick off inside the stadium would give 15% off food and drink, or a discount against Merch post match.

I can't recall Everton featuring once.

Are the club missing a trick? Would you like to see some efforts from the club or should football just be football, without any technology...

Do you expect us to do things like this, Seen the clown we've got running the place

Elstone out

The only good thing we've got going on technological wise is our social media side of things is very good

Many Evertonian's turn up relatively late to the game compared to other clubs, so this could be a real boost to some revenue.

Dortmund offer free Wi-Fi Westfalenstadion but strictly during before kick off, during half-time and after the match.

Their argument is that when football is being played you should be watching, however the access times ensure people turn up earlier and interact.

With free Wi-Fi people would be able to interact with the club (checking in etc.) which would give discount for food and booze.

With many cheap amenities nearby, no wonder people don't spend £3.50 or something on a drink and then some food.

I do remember a few of the club media people were asking about WIFI on Twitter but after they looked into it, it was too expensive to implement.

We should use more Tech around the ground like, liven it up. Imagine ordering Chang via an app on your phone.

Remember the bluetooth thing ?

used to bombard you with links, for which you needed to connect via your data connection, which is obviously impossible when everyone else is trying to at the same time.

Amazes me that we get the team news on the app when it's announced tbh as opposed to 'just after Rossie reads it out'

They cant even have the time on the scoreboard carrying on beyond 90 mins ffs.

The reason that Everton never put in the WiFi was because they couldn't guarantee a quailty of connection.

Personally, we should just watch togger. I dont get my phone out while I'm at the game, I might aswell leave it at home tbh.

If I could tag in on facebook, I'd get a discount of 15%, would I get into the ground earlier? No, cause outside the foood annd drink is 30% cheaper.

All the more reason to bloody build a new stadium then.

All manner of things like this. The match day revenue per fan is well below other clubs. The club appear great at doing the traditional/community based stuff, but much less adventurous at doing anything very new.

They dont mind pushing stuff on us via the screens during the game lioke, in fact every time you look at them for a replay ZAP try to sell you a ticket for an upcoming game that over 3/4 of the stadium already have.

I would guess that most of these technologies are relatively high cost and low margin, and many won't be in use in three years. I can't see Everton doing this on their own, but maybe partnering with existing technologies.

Just to compare which kind of new technologies would You like or dislike.

We have a brand new stadium at Ferencváros. Lots of technical enhancements and some folks like that, some folks don't they'd rather go back to old school 'football only' style.

We have the kind of fan card that You don't even have to buy a real ticket: buy it online and it goes to Your card. You can enter the stadium with that and with Your palm. It's the only stadium in Europe which works with a vein-scanner entry system: it guarantees that with Your card and Your ticket no one can enter just You. Now that's what folks don't like - I like it, fancy any kind of new technology. Basically You're walking around with Your own pin code in Your palms.

And there's cashless payment inside: put some money on Your fan card inside from the automates and You can buy food. Lines are shorter and faster, no money exchange.

And there's also a good wi-fi connection: it's not just for nerds @MoutsGoat . I use it to post to our forum at HTs so the folks who couldn't make it to the game could get a mini-report from the scene. So that's useful.

And a lot of LED TVs around a stadium showing the videos made by the club TV ( as EvertonTV). Interviews with players, short footages from trainings, training camp. It helps You to pass the time before the match.

Overall I like it very much: the stadium is beautiful, seats are very comfortable and these new technologies make things easier and faster around the stadium.

Near to useless, unfortunately. I would have resisted this stuff as long as possible if I were the club, we do pride ourselves on tradition, but we need to modernise ourselves now. There is no other choice.
