Everton Shirt Sales

Right so I know quite a bit about Everton I reckon and lots of that has come from info I've got from guys on here but one thing has never been explained to me.

Why aren't our replica kits sold in proper highstreet shops?

When I worked at JJB years ago they did and they sold really well.

We must be missing out on yet another fortune there? Must be.

Is there a valid reason why we don't?

The Kitbag excluvity deal. We supposedly made a loss with them earlier. I guess this is good for short term finances. For long term branding, no.

JJB were a joke. Used to put stock at the back of the shop hidden away. Plus there's a reason they nearly went under.

True. I guess I prioritised the Everton shirts in my shop because I could.

And I'd love them to go under. Horrible company to work for and Dave Whelan...well you all know.

When JJB sold them, nobody else was allowed to, it was them who ran our shop as well. Sportsdirtect complained to the monopolies commission or someone and they were forced to supply them with some to sell, as soon as they had them in JJB reduced our kits to £7 a shirt or something and S.D. were stuck with all of theirs.

You still struggled in a lot of JJB shops to get 1 though even though they were the only ones, yet full of all the others.

I think the deal we had with JJB was no better than Kitbag really, they both had an exclusive deal, which means you had to buy direct from them or rom the Everton website. The only part of the Kitbag deal that is better is that at least we have a shop in the middle of the town again (Everton Two), which can bring in money 7 days a week.

I understand that the club shops arent accessible for everyone, but I have used the website as well and I havent had any issues.

Do we sell our shirts in many places oversea's...obviously people from oversea's I would like your opinion on that one. I've travelled a fair bit but I've never seen an Everton shirt in a shop in another country. You can imagine the amount of other Premiership teams that you see, which is pretty sad

How much of it has to do with the kit maker by the way? i.e. If we get a Nike deal, we'll suddenly be available everywhere, all around the world?

Right thanks for all the replies.

I didn't know about the Kitbag deal thing.

I did know about the JJB one...but that's not really what i meant.

Surely by having our replica kits in ALL highstreet sports shops (not just JJB) we would make more money?

I'm probably wrong but in my head it makes sense.

Hate going in sports shops and only seeing the usual teams. Winds me up.

I've yet to see an Everton kit here in Oz, not even a Cahill shirt! You'll find the usual suspects available here & there, but they're considered 'fashion'. I can't get to a game so I support the club by buying direct over the internet. I have 3 replica shirts, 1 training wear, 1 jacket, and the kids have a shirt each (2). I try to do my bit from the other side of the planet...

Really? That just doesn't seem right, you'd like to think that Cahill is surely the most famous Australian footballer? I guess the internet can do everything nowadays, so its almost irrelevant in terms of getting your hands on one, but I would have thought Cahill Everton shirts were the most obvious ones you would find in the shops!?

Again, how much does it have to do with the kit maker? Nike and Adidas stores are in most City centres I guess, they would have our tops on sale if we had them as our kit maker I am presuming. I'm yet to see a Le Coq shop, so there's one of your problems already ijjy

Kewell has been the poster boy & Cahill promotions see him in the Green & Gold...almost exclusively. There was a cereal promotion recently where the prize was to see Timmy at Goodison, and Tim in our kit was splashed all over the box...

Anyway, here's one of the bigger chains here... http://www.rebelsport.com.au/ecom/rebel/product_listing.aspx?cat=1068

Hmm, that's not great is it. Fair enough we haven't had much to shout about in recent times, but we have Tim Cahill!!

The selection over here is not great. For instance go to http://www.soccer.com/Navigation.process?Ntt=everton&N=0&Ntk=Search&Nty=1&Ntx=mode%2Bmatchallany&Dx=mode%2Bmatchallany&x=0&y=0 and all you get are the pink shirts.
