An interesting article about our scouting network, albeit from 2011. It says we have 200 scouts searching for players. Are they one man and his dog, rolly in mouth watching on the sidelines a schoolboy match while it lashes down, or are they employed by the Club, regardless of results ?

that was under moyes, think our scouting system was far superior under him than Martinez'.

That said a lot of our best scouts got poached by bigger clubs, our best one got signed by chelsea a few years ago.

I was wondering who scouts abroad : Africa, Australasia, or maybe the States ?

Does that mean they are exclusive to one club, or just pass info on to many clubs ?

There's meant to be a really good book about the scouting systems of clubs and Everton under Moyes gets a chapter about how he developed a system that only a select few of about 5 got to know out targets. One of the many reasons I'm convinced theres no such thing as ITK's to be honest.

It's called the Nowhere Men, keep meaning to buy myself but I've got other stuff I'm reading for now.

There are always leaks, and always 'ITK' from every club. Mostly because of agents, or people very close to someone at the club.

Unless there on the payroll of the club they don't have to be exclusive to anyone, they just want there commission

I doubt someone in say the inner circle of 5 would jeopardise their role to tell a cleaner or steward who are targets are.

Agents leaking information to the press aren't ITK's.

I think you'd be genuinely surprised, it doesn't happen all the time but information absolutely leaks, from time to time.

Agents are just normal people too, they can tell their mates who a club is after, and what sort of stuff is going on with regards to contracts and other negotiations, it just happens really.

Moyes inner circle was very tight and he was quite strict on anyone who did 'leak' information but it still happened.

Happens at every club, and in fact it happens in every business thats in the public eye / interest too.

Games for example (bit of a weird one) people in the games industry, or companies that go and make games, they could have a very tight circle too on what information is available etc, but all it takes it one word of mouth from someone in the inner circle to someone they trust, and it eventually spreads out and get's leaked.
