I look back at our visits to the old Wembley and the special twin towers and think about our games there. My first visit was in 1977, the league cup final and I think the highlight of that occasion was when the referee stopped play part way through the second half to look for the spurs that a bandsman had appeared to have lost during the interval.
1984, deja vous, a friendly finaland a 2-0 win against the Hornets.
The charity shield of that year was a great day out which was made sweeter by the Grobbelaar own goal to give us the shield for 12 months.
After that, the rest of the games played in the famous old fashioned stadium is best forgotten with nothing but misery in 85, 86 and of course 89.
Despite all that, I'm glad I was there. Oh Everton we love you.

The charity shield win against Man U was a good day out my son. 2-0 Steven and Heath scoring with one Gary Lineker making his debut.

That Simod Cup final against Forest was mad, neither side could be bothered to defend. Great entertainment.

How the hell did I miss that one out? I'm starting to lose the plot big time. Thanks scratchnsurf for reminding me of that great day. I feel embarrassed now. OOps

Senior moment mate.

My first trip was the grobellar charity shield when I was 10. I had got Sharp in the sweepstake; they gave me the money as he was the last blue to touch it.

Wembley was a regular destination for a few years.

1968 WBA. Terrible in every way after the fabulous stories I had heard from relatives about 1966. 1977 was a let down but the replays were exciting.
1984 great day in every way. Lacked the drama of 1966 but finally say them score and win at Wembley.
Beating RS in charity shield was pretty good too.
85, 86 less said the better. Did not make 89.
Mickey Mouse simod etc rubbish
1995 was ace.
