Fonte, Tadic and Pelle in 2015 are/were not the same in September 2017. They were in their prime and now gone downhill.

I will take Van dijk, Alderweirld (as a defender not a dm), Mane and Pelle (2015 version) from there.

Southampton's 2015 100%. They finished 6th, don't see Everton finishing 6th this season.

Prefer our team though the striker situation is a problem. But it's clear given the supposed money he was promised that someone has messed up.

Whether that's him, Walsh, Moshiri or a combination I don't know. But to end up without a striker and about five number 10s is just unforgivable.

Pretty much even if you consider ages/form from Southampton team. IMO we should have at least 7th locked up this year. Don't feel we are weaker than last year and do feel that as the players start to gel a bit we'll see goals from mid field more than last year.

Southampton was helped by both Liverpool and especially Chelsea having rough seasons...off set of course by the Foxes. So basically their 6th would be the same as us finishing sixth if one of last year's big boys slip up. Could it happen? Sure...Spurs not getting a grip at Webley? Conte picking too many fights at Chelsea? Liverpool's defence not showing up?

The reason why he left was because everything was for sale at Southampton. If a member of the public happened to be walking past the office and liked the curtains or a desk or a chair, if they put in a reasonable bid it would be theirs.

That and the fact he didn't want to be railroaded into signing a new contract and they wouldn't let him stay without one.

+ we beat that team 3-0 at their ground with a worse team and manager than we have now so not sure a comparison needs to be made.

They had a director of football there who did what Steve Walsh supposedly does here
