I'd euthanise the majority of the squad if I was in their position
Let’s not be hasty and destroy the impact.

One by one and see if there is a corresponding rise in results. Just like The Apprentice, some weeks will call for multiple ‘expulsions’ to regain squad attention but eventually you engender a winning mentality.

The signings made since Brands tiped up:

extended injury periods for Bernard, Gbamin, Mina, with Delph and Gomes in and out of the team.

That's 5 of the 9 players he's signed unavailable on a regular basis.

I’m not being funny but injuries are hardly a new thing are they? James McCarthy spent more time on the treatment table than the pitch ffs

Why do you think they were relatively cheap, we got a potential sicknote discount

Mina and Gomes came in with a checkered recent injury history didn't they? So they were gambles. I also remember something about Bernard - or was it that he hadn't had a pre-season or played for a while (due to an old injury)? My memory is hazy!

Gbamin was a muscle injury - and apparently has had a set back in training. Is this on Everton's medical and training set up? Potentially yes. And Delph it appears has had a career with a few serious injuries thrown in so it should be expected he is out for periods of time.

Apart from Gbamin I think that is fair comment in terms of Brand's recruitiment policy. 4 new players identified for the first team with injury concerns is a very big gamble when you started with a team that doesn't have a good enough first 11, let alone squad. Then again, risks have to be taken given that the club has 'slipped in profile' and isn't getting first (or any) choice at the best players available. At this moment,

I'd say the gamble is not paying off. If he'd have gotten the same ratio of 'injury prone' players to 'healthy' ones, but gotten in another 4 first teamers, then we might have a critical mass of healthy decent players and rotation of risky ones to have made an impact this season.
