Everton like teams in Other Leagues

I feel like having a more famous local rival is a required ingredient, so I'm redoing your list:

NFL - J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
MLB - Mets, except that they're so unlikable.
NBA - Clippers or Nets, except they lack both history and passion. The Nets even have a rich owner who built them a new stadium with probably-dirty Russian money, but we'll just have to pray that the parallels end there.
NHL - Nordiques, except they don't exist anymore (but does the NHL even exist anymore?).
College Football - Pitt, agree with you here.
College Basketball - Wake Forest and North Carolina State, they're like the Cooper Manning of Tobacco Road, but if Cooper had a twin (probably named Brody).

I know that 90% of the people who read this don't care at all, or even know what we're talking about. Yet somehow that made this more fun to write.
Spot on with NC State. That's certainly Everton and their last championship was a few years before Everton's last.

On your other points I hear you but I went a little more toward historical arc of success. You could say Vikings to the Packers, Flyers to the Rangers/Penguins.

Disagree with all of these German shouts, we're definitely Hamburger SV.

  • Old as dirt (Founded 1887)
  • Ridiculous amounts of time in the top flight (Have been in the top since WW1, the only side to have played in every season of the Bundesliga)
  • From a northern port city
  • Play in blue and white
  • Have an impressive trophy case, but have been mediocre for quite some time (6th on German major honors list)
  • Last glory run that met club expectations was in the mid 80's (they did win the Ligapokal and Intertoto cup recently, but to get a major honor that's still around you have to go back to 1987)

lollollollollollollol

You might as well just say Browns, Pirates, Clippers, Blue Jackets*, Prairieview A&M, and SUNY Binghamton

*Always did love me some Hartford Whalers, shame they relocated to Charlotte Raleigh Winston-Salem Greensboro

If you'll allow the pedantry, Nordiques = Avs, although that reminds me...

Admirable, but supporting Everton is difficult enough as it is. Anything more than that is masochistic.

I support Everton as my family team, Wycombe as my local team, and Espanyol as my foreign team. They're all awful. The last time they all won on the same weekend was December 2014, almost 2 years ago. None of them have ever won a single trophy since I've supported them.
