Everton in the Conference

Anyone else see Moyes talking about this?

Kinda made sense to me.

If you didn't the basic jist of what he said was that he tried to get Everton Reseves into the Conference about 5 years ago but wasn't allowed.
The reason behind this was that currently the reserves play on weird nights (like Monday, Wednesday, Thursday etc...) but this doesn't reflect the Saturday games the players would make if they improved. And gives them better professional opposition.
Seemed like a good idea to me. Now Villas Boas has
jumped on the bandwagon with similar ideas. Tit.

I found it interesting anyway.

What, him what's only been over here 3 months??

These are the reasons it didn't happen I guess.

I guess the idea is kinda like what Barca, Villareal etc do with there B teams.

Yeah, works pretty well over there I think, but there are quite a lot of probs with it over here. Moyes said we would have had to start right at the bottom and work up, would have taken years, and too much red tape.

At the expense of who? a club with its own identity, history and fans, so that the prem clubs can have even more advantages.

Well tbf i'm sure there could easily be spaces available. Darlington are on the brink of extinction atm as it is.... At least this way you'd have teams there who weren't gonna go anywhere, would probably draw more fans to the games, and give all the players at that level an idea of playing at the top level.

Isnt there an awful lot more full time clubs in England than say Spain making it harder to find room to put prem sides B teams into a lower division ?

Surely it would have an impact on lower league clubs , thought it was a silly idea when the FSW suggested it a few years back and still do .

Yeah, I think in Spain quite a few of the big teams have B teams playing in lower leagues, and in FM (I know) they even have what are effectively C teams aswell for Real i think, but as I said above, many of the small lower league teams here are struggling to maintain an existence... obviously that wouldn't be a concern if those teams where a higher league sides B team.
