Everton in the Conference

Anyone else see Moyes talking about this?

Kinda made sense to me.

If you didn't the basic jist of what he said was that he tried to get Everton Reseves into the Conference about 5 years ago but wasn't allowed.
The reason behind this was that currently the reserves play on weird nights (like Monday, Wednesday, Thursday etc...) but this doesn't reflect the Saturday games the players would make if they improved. And gives them better professional opposition.
Seemed like a good idea to me. Now Villas Boas has
jumped on the bandwagon with similar ideas. Tit.

I found it interesting anyway.

would we have enough players?! it is interesting...would you then be able to risk a first teamer in the ressies in a bid to build up their fitness, if they knew they could get crocked by a milkman from kettering??

These are the reasons it didn't happen I guess.

I guess the idea is kinda like what Barca, Villareal etc do with there B teams.

Its not a bad idea to send players there to gain experience - the top of the conference is probably a higher standard than League 2 is. Not sure about putting a team straight in there, it would probably be better to deal with one or two local clubs (at Conference level and lower - so Wrexham, the new Chester etc) and send players out to those clubs to gain experience (as an aside, Wrexham have quite a few injury problems up front and would benefit from having strikers loaned to them if you are reading this Moyes).
