You just assuming they come from backgrounds like that because it doesn't mention anything in that article about it, it does say about 'Poppy' who's 'disruptive' and 'the roughest toughest lads' being selected. if they're from backgrounds you describe then they should be given a few extra privileges but it's still no excuse for being a tit either.

In my experience, these are the reasons (and other similarly awful things) why children repeatedly behave in a way that ends up with them being permanently excluded. I've worked in education for most of my working life. There are plenty of kids who are a bit of a tit. It generally takes considerably more than that to get permanently excluded once, let alone repeatedly.

Most of the kids I knew that used to get permanently excluded from multiple places were just bells and/or bullies or a bit nuts but I don't work in education, It looks a boss school to be fair.

Had a similar level of investment been made earlier on in their education, perhaps they would have turned around earlier. There are many reasons why children fail at school; deprivation, poor family background, abuse and more but they are children and if we don't at least try to turn their lives around, what does that say about our society. The school may well get 3 times as much per pupil compared to the average secondary, but how much more will it cost if they don't turn their lives around. How much do you think it costs to support someone who is unable to access employment, who instead turns to crime or substance abuse?

And there's the rub, invest early or it will cost tenfold later on and for much longer. Primary schools are good at containing challenging pupils but not so good at diagnosing and addressing problems and needs

There's no resources for them to do anything other than contain and if worse comes to worse, move on to another school. What's offered at places like the Everton free school is far too scarce for secondary kids and pretty much non existent for kids younger than that.
