[imga=left]http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41153000/jpg/_41153755_kapo203x152.jpg[/imga]According to Sky Sports and reports in Spain, Everton have joined a chase for Juventus midfielder Olivier Kapo for a fee rumoured to be around £2million.

Kapo signed for Juventus from Auxerre in May 2004 on a free transfer but after only managing to make just 14 appearences for the Italian outfit, he was loaned out to AS Monaco were he scored 5 goals in 25 appearances and spent last season also on loan at Spanish outfit Levante were he scored 5 goals in 32 appearances.

Other clubs rumoured to be interested are Birmingham, Marseille, Real Betis, Real Mallorca, Olympiakos and AEK Athens but the French midfielder has stated that the Premiership appeals to him most. In the past he has also been linked with Liverpool, Newcastle and Seville.

Kapo: “At the moment I am only thinking of my holidays and it will be Juventus that decides my future,"

"The club know my preferences. I want that a good sporting project. "The Premier League is enormously attractive for any player. For me it would be excellent but I repeat that it does not just depend on me.

"My experience in Spain was positive but Levante were only fighting to avoid relegation and I desire a club with more aspirations."

another player

Well if this is true thats another plyer linked to us .What has come out of all this thank god we are getting young players for the future .Like us to sign just one good player we have been linked to just have to see .

Not so quick, this guy could be another Nyarko:dodgy:

and thus the transfer gamble was given by god to civilisation, and it laughed as managers and fans hopped from one foot to another with expectation and being let down.

no certainties in the transfer game, hedge your bets is the safest way, but sometimes a long shot can pay off.

what a game.

pedigree and track record count, this guy appears to have little of either, ft and no more

No pedigree or track record? Thierry Henry didn't "make it" at Juventus remember...

Also, the lads been capped for France.

Just taken this from a website;

Description: Kapo is an excellent attacking left midfielder, possessing pace and an ability to score from anywhere. Kapo was linked with a number of high profile European clubs before sealing his move to Juventus.

Look at Nyarko's

Why on earth are you comparing him to Nyarko? :unsure:

Nyarko played for Lens, FC Basle and had a short loan spells at Monaco and Paris SG. Thats having no pedigree. Also, we signed Nyarko for £5m, thats more than double the reported fee for Kapo.

Few other facts;

A naturalised Frenchman, he helped his adopted nation qualify for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, scoring twice in the 4-3 victory in Israel, including the winner, and missing just one match. Kapo made his international debut under Jacques Santini against Yugoslavia in November 2002 and played in the following year's FIFA Confederations Cup.

After moving to Paris as a child, he was drafted into AJ Auxerre's celebrated academy at the age of 13. Kapo first gained French first division experience in March 1999 against RC Lens and from the following season was an established member of the senior squad. In 2001/02, he started off in typically confident fashion as his club successfully challenged for a top-three place and a UEFA Champions League slot the following campaign, although his season came to a premature end when he was forced to have surgery on a recurring ankle injury in March. He finally made his comeback after five months out in August 2002 and went on to help Auxerre lift the French Cup the following May.

In his final season at the Abbé Deschamps, Kapo scored twice in 29 Ligue 1 outings as Auxerre finished fourth to qualify for the UEFA Cup once again. After 120 top-flight appearances, he left for Juventus FC in May.
For £2m, it would hardly be a risk now would it? :mellow:

£2m, you say? Hmm ... Cahill £2m. Arteta £2m. If Moyes wants to gamble £2m of our money on a midfielder I, for one, would let him.

Kapo for $2mill. Barginand could grow just like arteta, Cahill, osman ect have all done.

Better to buy an obvious talent and get it to blosom than one like anelka who has it in bunches (but knows it too)...

Kapo for 2mill is a steal...

Danny, you shoot yourself in the foot mate, if he is that good how the hell do you think we would sign him for £2 mil? Have a look at your own posts, how many clubs have been or are looking at him, thats how Nyarko started and, unfortunately, we won the bidding. If this kid is so good why did he get so few games with Juve playing in the Italian second division. You should know that I am all for signing bargains but all that glitters is not gold and I am warning that caution ought to be applied to overseas players who have not been properly watched by our own scouts and we then splash the cash on the advice of others, Nyarko springs to mind again.
