Well thats well out of order imo. I know last year was a significant anniversary, but even so.
I'm afraid I gave up supporting the British Legion last year because of this:It ony happened last year because @The Esk requested it.
It's a scandal really. As said last year, the lack of recognition is staggering given that more people at that home game will have MN connections than army, RN, RAF ones combined I'd imagine.
Only home game between now and mid November ?Why are we doing this remembrance stuff today when no other club has this weekend?
Sad that the Merchant Navy were not represented. I made the point today that in future years they should be, the recognition of their contribution should be automatic, particularly from the senior club of a city with such maritime heritage.
The other services are more important, that's the only conclusion I can draw tbh. You pulled them up on it specifically last season and they acted. Leave them to it though and they ignore them.Sad that the Merchant Navy were not represented. It's an insult. Liverpool seamen WERE the Merchant Navy. The people being remembered today wouldn't have eaten or had weapons to do their fighting otherwise. Either honour no one or honour them all.

Appreciate that mate. Excellent work last season.I made a mistake Dave in assuming they would continue from last year, given how well it was received.
I won't make the same mistake next year, I'll remind them in September.
They really shouldn't need persuading though should they?
That was a run most other merchant men would have gone awol for rather than face. I had family who did exactly that: jumped off ships in Nova Scotia and just waited for another ship to come in to sign up for.Indeed, Dave.
My grandad was a merchant sailor whom was torpedoed seven times on the Russian convoys, finally dying when, after being fished out the drink on the final occasion, he took pneumonia and succumbed on the way home.
