The Daily Mail newspaper have began silly season by today linking Newcastle striker Michael Owen with a move to his boyhood heroes.

Recent reports have claimed Newcastle aim to cut Owens weekly salary from £120,000 to £80,000 in an attempt to implement a new wage structure. The Daily Mail suggest the former Liverpool man would be willing to take such a pay cut to move to 'the right club', naming Everton as a likely destination.

Would you welcome a move by Everton to sign Owen? Discuss the issue in our forums...

Its too much of a gamble. Yes if he was always fit Id snap him up but we know that its only a matterof time before his next long term injury. We havent got the money for this sort of punt

Wouldn't want to see Owen in Blue - In fact I thought that you had misstyped the last word in your post above and was going to whole-heartedly agree.

I still remember when he had a little laugh to himself during the press conference announcing his signing for newcastle, bet he wasnt laughing as he dragged his arse off the pitch after being outplayed by the mighty boys in blue.

however, he is a great striker but his fitness or lack of is a huge problem.
