Was talking to an unnamed multimillionaire businessman today about our Club. This person is entirely impartial on these matters.
Here is their views almost verbatim
Headline: "Everton: ARE A JOKE CLUB"
Other Comments:
"Everton have a fantastic history... more so than many other clubs"
"Everton have a brilliant and large support"
"Everton have a great manager"
"Everton produce some excellent young players"
"Everton, can't understand why they're not making more money"
"Why then are Everton a Joke club? Why given all the above circumstances, are Everton in the position they are?"
I countered: "I believe it may have something to do with turnover of commercial staff and directors in ability to plan LONG TERM, more short term aims, not long term and then people move on"
The millionaire concluded (amongst other things that cannot be published):
"The main reason: the current owners have a massive disconnect from the supporters.
Something fundamental that is making success on a sustained basis for a club like Everton, being blocked. OWNERS DISCONNECT FROM THE SUPPORTERS"
As everyone on here knows I'm not KEIOC, Blue Union or any of these groups. I think they're all teds.
Equally am less than impressed with Everton's behaviour in response to Blue Union, they should NEVER of allowed Derek Hatton air time on the club website. Or the airing of dirty linen like they did in public. The Club are teds too.
The Club's board and commercial staff are massively disconnected from the supporters. Its that fundamental fact which is blocking Everton being back amongst the most successful clubs in football.
The customers - the supporters - tell the club what they want. If there's no planning for 5 or 10 year in advance then the club's board are not doing their job properly.
If there is a high turnover of commercial staff and if they are not thinking YEARS in advance or are not being able to due to the mistaken belief's of this board then there is a major problem.
If Blue Union and the club continue to air dirty linen in public this will cause more supporter disconnect.
Its the supporter disconnect that needs urgently addressing. LESS POLITICS. More action.
Specifically this Annex. - More details published. More listening to the supporters. More opportunities to ensure Everton make money.
