It is infuriating trying to wrestle some of the doomsayers back into reality without sounding like we are glossing too much, but I for one am delighted with the work we have done since May.

The way we played football yesterday was especially pleasing. Scored some proper, modern football goals - possession side to side, work the overloads. Exciting times!

Definitely need a few extra in defensive positions, but I'm confident we can do that
This weekend will tell a tale.
Outside of a wonder strike by Duran, I think the wolves equaliser last season was the best goal I'd seen in ages, so my goal of the season against us. It was all one touch football, no room for error, swept the ball across the pitch into stride one touch every time, run and hit first time finish. Was excellent. Applauded the quality at the time. (we rarely got close to the ball until it was in our box, and we still never got close).
Lets see what Wolves have this weekend and measure how we do vs last season.

I've more optimism about us of late than in a long while, some of that will be the new ground, and the new wave of positivity that's knocking about, but this squad is night and day. Our play (besides leeds) is night and day. We've players that are getting people up off their seats, and we're making a go of being sound in the league. It's been a 'kin hard road.

Seeing how poor McNeil was last night compared to our new signings made me realise how bad we’ve had it for the last few years. Let’s hope we’ve turned a corner now and we can enjoy some decent football in our stunning new stadium.
He looks horrifically short of form. He hasn’t been that bad the last couple of seasons.

I really think Moyes will sell him if he can get a replacement in.

It was like watching Arsenal back in the day under Wenger when they would just cruise to countless 2-0 home wins controlling the tempo and pace of the game. Yes, it was against League One opposition but maybe, just maybe, we are entering an era of actually having a good footballing side, especially at home!

He`s very hard to watch when he is having a bit of a bad game. He`s so left footed it seems very easy for defenders to hold him up, just keep him covered on his left side and he`ll not do any damage. Grealish is making himself available for a return pass as soon as the ball leaves his foot and is busting his guts when he gives the ball away to get it back. McNeill seems to take a moment to switch off when he makes a pass and doesn`t seem too bothered when he gives the ball away, and seems to make very hard work of chasing back. He was the one player that didn`t impress me last night.

Respect to Mansfield. They defended well, kept their shape, competed all over the pitch. Traveled well - the away end seemed full, and in good voice?

So we won as we should have but give the opppsition their due.

He won’t be one of our best XI again unless there are multiple long term injuries. I love McNeil but he’s just too one-footed.

Moyes made an interesting comment after the game, basically saying that the performance was the best that he'd seen under his management at this stage of the cup (paraphrasing: - 'I've been through 100 of these games and 99 of them have been rubbish')

There was a bit of a different air to us on Wednesday night. Usually there's a few jitters of a potential banana skin on the cards but we stuck to our guns and controlled the game throughout, looking to play some neat & intricate footy wherever we could. I think Moyes is at least trying to get us to become more of a possession side.
