I missed most of that era, the kids were young, we lived in Kent, just could not get the time to go to the games. Went to the finals we lost - in fact never seen us win a cup final at the game, saw 66, 84 and 95 on the box, attended all the others :(

Oh for some glory to return.

Both the 84/5 and 85/6 sides were better. We were the best side in the League in 85/6 but blew it in the final few weeks with a draw at Forest and the last minute defeat at Oxford. Liverpool had given the league up by February that season and Dalglish started using the fixtures to experiment with different formations and line-ups eg Molby as a CB. Unfortunately, with the pressure off they went on a run of dropping only 2 points in something like 13 games! We got revenge in 86/7 of course, but ironically Liverpool were probably the better side that season.

Probably a bigger achievement in hindsight than 1984-85,we were hit horrendously with injuries, bit part players such as Mimms,Adams,Langley,Wilkinson etc played major roles,Paul Power came in and I remember thinking Howie had lost the plot, that's why Howie was Howie and I'm just melolwhat a signing!!!I remember the first game of the season v Forest and our injury ravaged team scraped a massive 2-0 win which gave us belief, we probably played our best football around Xmas/New Year when Sheeds switched to Centre Midfield,we certainly knew how to dig out wins though,Arsenal away was pivotal as the red shower lost at home that day and I remember a great day down at Chelsea in the rain when Zico Harper gave us a 2-1 win with a screamer from 30 yards, great season and memories:)

How good was that team?

Remember the season for bad reasons for as we went down to the 3rd division, but also remember Everton.

Was always nice to see someone beat Liverpool to the title. Didn't remember it was Kendalls last season befoe he left? Read that he left due to no games in Europe? Once he left did the team sort of get ripped apart?
Well that’s sort of Everton’s mismanagement from then until present in a nutshell.

84/85 side was better but I think you have a point...remember a horrendous 0-0 draw vs QPR in the Oct of '86 I think...the fat little RS Lee was playing for them and we had Langley in midfield....one of the worst home matches I've had the misfortune to watch..

Yeah, the autumn was tough and I remember that one!!, but importantly we managed to "hang in"at the top of the table around that time and that was crucial in the end.
