...earliest memories watching that '63 side. Actually played against Kay, but he was much older than me and hard as nails I have to say. He would've been a truly top player.

Have to say would have been one of the greats if allowed to, imagine him and bally a couple of years later,oh well:cheers:

I played WITH Tony Kay on a number of occasions...I played(not very well!) for Silcocks at their old Watts Lane ground(the council have it now?) and Kay and a couple of RS( St John etc) used to turn out for us in friendlies. In those days lots of the players lived in the Maghull/Formby area. Kay used to play beautiful passes inside the full back for me to chase, but I very rarely caught them. Even then, I was in my early 20s, and he used to call me 'The Grand Old Man Of Football'. Great days, and he was/is a decent bloke.
