Evaluating Everton's Transfer Window

Nice article. I particularly liked the thought that we can start reaching for players straight from the source and can afford to take more risks with the foundation that was built this window

I think the club will regret not following through with Tierney. A lot of people in Scotland say he is better than Robertson, and he is first choice at Liverpool and looks to be one of the best Scottish players in many a year. He would have great sell-on value, which is one of the best things about Pickford, outside of his impressive performances and clear potential.

Thinking about the approach this year versus last, the window has been ground breakingly better. This may or may not be borne out in players performances but I do not think that anyone could argue about HOW Brands went about the business.
Way to early to say. And the Supermaket Sweep last day trolley dash means we have a group of players with no on-pitch experience together

From Football365. Losers of the transfer window:
That's a typical biased article based on nothing but the fact that the writer is clearly a Liverpool fan with an agenda.
As someone has said, if Mina had gone to United or Liverpool, they would have been heralding him as the best CB in world football, and Richarlison would be on a pedestal just for the fact that he is Brazilian.

..I was thinking about this earlier. If we judge a window on whether the Manager’s in and out targets have been met, then I think this has to be an 8/10 window. It seems Silva wanted certain players in certain positions, as well as a major cull of existing squad. Mission largely accomplished.

How the window manifests itself by way of performance on the pitch is more about a Brands/Silva’s judgement than it is about the success of the window.

He's getting some pelters in the comments to be fair.

From Football365. Losers of the transfer window:

Yes lots of nonsense there. Mina was significantly better than Sanchez at the World Cup. 40 million is a lot for a lad, but not for a 21 year old with his record.

We have also then added 2 French internationals, a Portuguese international and a Brazilian international, all under 26 for around 20 million quid. I am quite happy with our business.

Richarlison has been ridiculously written off by some parts of the media ,I think he’s gonna be an outstanding acquisition,he know has clever players around him Digne behind him and Bernard carving open defences and Andre Gomes when he gets fit this is such a change in mindset you can’t help but be excited..last season we started with Calvert Lewin upfront this season we have pace ,energy, creativity and power

Lovely article .
Obviously have no idea of how all these signings turns out,but I must admit that for me it seems like Brands is a true professional at this. Especially when you look at how there seems to be a plan B everywhere, as in backing out of the Tierney deal and immediately focus on the next possibility. Without the slightest concern of appearance or fumbling around in the media.
I am trying to curb my enthusiasm and positivity here. Its really hard.

@catcherintherye

I think both Brands and Silva have done extremely well.

If we ignore the loan signings and look at the players likely to be in the mix next season

Pickford
Coleman -- Mina -- Holgate -- Digne
??? -- Gana
Bernard
??? -- ??? --- Richarlison
A-- Look at the difference in quality between Neves and Schneiderlin. We need to look at this position as being the orchestrator from deep of our attacks. Not simply having someone 'positionally' fine and recycling the ball.

B-- Interesting that you mentioned Dembele at Barca. If Malcom had joined we would be set up all across the front 3 attacking positions behind the striker.

Note how almost 50% of our attacks were down the left and the rest split between centre and right. Hopefully, bernard comes into the centre and takes players away from richarlison who will be double marked. Right forward is crucial for us to upgrade to spread all the attacking play.

C-- Centre forward options of Tosun and Niasse + DCL isnt enough for a champions league level top 4 side. We need to have a top class centre forward so we can bring tosun on as a finisher when needed.

These 3 positions get upgraded and we have a sexy first 11.
