The festival kicked nothing off, it has never calmed down if anything, and even the festival was quite deep into the recent restart of the aggression on both sides, wasn't it?

I agree though, Israel should be nowhere near it, and "political voting" like this is utter BS. Also happened to Ukraine, interestingly, as if "support in Eurovision" means anything in a war.

Anyway, didn't watch this year, couldn't be arsed, saw there's some decent songs but it's mostly samey now anyway.

The "peace/music festival", which was actually a psytrance rave, was among the places attacked by Hamas on October 7th 2023. Many of the attendees were killed.

It wasn't the start of anything, other than in the minds of Israelis and people who don't pay attention to this conflict. 2023 had already been the deadliest year for Palestinians in 15 years prior to October 7th, with 234 already murdered by Israel.
