European 'Super League' Shenanigans

The RS at an official level floated this "idea" a few years ago.

If such a system was to be implemented then the English top flight would soon become like Scotland and Spain, where only two clubs can hope to win the league, Athletico Madrid a few years ago notwithstanding, and then when one dog eats its rivals, it will become what Germany and France are turning into.

The relative levelness of the EPL is what gives it its appeal over other major leagues.

Start concentrating the money in an even fewer coterie of clubs and it will have the worldwide appeal of La Liga and Das Bundesliga.

I mean, who gives a stuff about Ligue 1 with its now annual procession?

Is it the CL itself people are tired of, or the 2 months of group stage games when we already know 90% of the teams that will go through when the draw is set?.

I would say so.

People loved the Eurooean Cup as it once was.

As far as I can tell, outside fans of the club's involved, no one gives the CL much thought until the latter stages.

i.e. the knockout stages......just like the European Cup used to be.
