There has been tons of threads about this but I'm on my phone and don't have a clue how to find threads etc. What do we actually need to get Europa? My mate is saying 6th and hope city win the FA Cup but I'm sure I read that we need 5th...

5th.

6th goes to wigan if city finish top 4, which they will.

What is the deal with Swansea winning the capital one cup? They ruled it counts against the number of teams England are allowed to send?

1-3: CL group stage
4: CL qualifying round
5: Europa league
*is that group stage?*

League Cup: Europa League.
*will they have to qualify like Liverpool did?*

They play in an English League tho, so they are basically fake English, like Brennan.

I see, did I really dream up the whole controversy about this? Could have sworn UEFA made a comment the last time Cardiff were in a domestic final that if they won they wouldn't count against the FA's european allocation.

What national anthem do they play before their European games.

When cardiff reached the fa cup final in 2006? UEFA said they wouldn't be given an english place because of their history of playing in the CWC as a welsh team. They would have to have been given a RS style wildcard entry if they won, which Uefa would have given them.

Since then but before cardiff reached the league cup final last year UEFA have discussed all the teams playing in the wrong league like cardiff and derry and berwick and basically declared them natives.

So cardiff and swansea etc are officially english and can't get into europe through the welsh spots any more.

So the english anthem will play.

Great, forgot Cardiff made the final last year too, thanks for clearing that up (y)

So the other chance is that Chelsea finish 5th and win Europa final and the extra league spot would drop to 6th.

You don't get an "extra" place for winning the Europa League, if Chelsea win the Europa League, but finish outside the champions league places, they go back in the Europa League, even if they finish bottom of the premier league. But only 3 teams represent England, so the place would be taken from the 5th placed team in the Premier League.

The English FA only get; 4 possible champions League places and 3 Europa League places, to allocate each year, it makes no difference if and English team wins one of the competitions.

It happened to Spurs last year, they finished Fourth and Chelsea finished 5th. But Chelsea won the Champions League, so they were in the Champions League this year and Spurs were not.
