Europe a good thing?

also Vellios has proven nothing to suggest he would be any better than Matt Smith yet you have people screaming for him to get a chance like he was Dzeko on the bench or something.

Vellios has done nothing wrong in the pitifully little game time he's had, imo,

On topic,I can see potentially good and bad scenarios if we got into The Europa , but I don't see how we could complain about squad size, or even quality, if we did.

Maybe it would be a problem, but in spite of apparent evidence of tiredness recently, we still don't use Vellios, Oviedo, Duffy and Barkley, to name four so what difference would a bigger squad make? We don't use the one we've got.

Because there not good enough!!

Stop thinking of us in line with city utd chelski ect... If we had a squad/bench with the likes of tevez, sigurdsson, dzeko, welbeck, nani, Dempsey, ba, Oscar, Milner, Anderson, lescott....
Do I need to go on????

We'd have a right to question our rotation...just look at those 4 names of ours u listed above and put them amongst those squad players from other teams.... It's not rocket science!!

thing is mate should felli, heitinga and one of our forwards go, we could bring in 3-4 £8-10 mil players with that money without including the sky cash, thats 1 additional face and extra wage, yet Distin and neville's wages will most likely be gone in the next year or so, so aslong as we can keep the squad size as it is (but with extra quality in the positions) and add maybe 1 additional that is good enough to play regulary then thats all we can really ask for until like I said Kenwright does one. Europa league challenge and hope for a cup or two is the best we can get until someone buys the club off that redcoat.

We wont get that much for fellaini . We will be guaranteed to loose money to the banks so its will be the tv money . Fellaini goes we find a 10m replacement and replace hientinga and then buy 3 extra 4 m addition players

Whether or not they're good enough is a matter of opinion. What isn't a matter of opinion is that they are the main men on the Everton bench and Everton doesn't use them, even when those occupying their likely positions on the pitch are playing
poorly or even in need of a rest.

Oh right, I must have heard 22 in the Prem.
Correct ... or at least that's what they said on TV the other night. Really that's the more significant bit of info -- the fact we played a few different players in the League Cup (and maybe one of the early rounds of the FA) doesn't really change the fact that the bulk of the games are in the Prem and in that we've used the least players.

That's going to have an impact with players getting tired. While we've had a Pienaar or a LD coming in Jan in the past we obviously had nobody this season (well nobody who is ready to play first team) and it's starting to show. If we had Europa too we'd be in trouble with this size of squad ... but if we had a bigger squad we'd likely have a worse first choice 11.

The optimism among some people when it comes to how much we will spend this coming summer is amazing ... especially considering the context of this board.

The main reason I want europe is that if we get europe, the board will invest

06/07 we qualify, that summer we bought Jagielka, Baines, Yakubu, Gosling, Pienaar, Wessels,

07/08 we qualify, that summer we bought Coleman, Fellaini, Jacobsen, Saha, Castillo (Johnson Money)

08/09 we qualify, that year we brought in Bilyaletdinov, Heitinga, Distin, Lucas Neil, Senderos, and in January Donovan (Lescott Money)

09/10 we didn't qualify, we brought in Gueye, Mucha, Vellios, and Beckford

10/11 we didn't qualify, we brought in Drenthe and Straq were our only notable summer signings, and they were loans (Arteta Money)

See a pattern? Yes outgoing transfers financed a lot of those (and I might have made some errors regarding dates), but I definitely see a relationship between our European competition prospects and our ambition in the transfer market. For that reason alone I would want to qualify for Europe so we might actually bring in players. I'm sure many of you will say i'm delusional and the board won't spend for any reason, well you may think what you'd like.

Of course, I think UEFA could make the decision easier if they made the winner of the Europa League qualify for Champions League automatically

We need European football because Moyes and the players want to experience it and because of the financial rewards. There's not a lot of money in the Europa league and it would probably cost us a few league places but it would be a sign of ambition and progress. Alongside Swansea we're probably one of the few sides in the top 12 not to have had a decent run in Europe over the last few years.

Why they don't do this is beyond me, it really is.
