EU - the French and Germans

agree with you there davek, the euro elite are finally showing there true colours, its going to go tits up in and these blerts are still using it to push there vanity projects the euro, further powers into there hands and nobody allowed to vote on it scum the lot of them.

The Eurozone was like a big party in the good times countries like Greece welcomed into the fold on the nod of Goldman Sachs, who gave them a clean bill of health (a clean bill the French and Germans knew was horeshit at the time). Now the shit has hit the fan, the system is down and they blame the Greeks and the others for being the problem for the currency. It's outrageous that a referendum was promised the Greek people BY THEIR OWN PRIME MINISTER then a few days later it's binned by Merkel and Sarkozy - and now Italy is ORDERED to obey the IMF.

Incredible.

Anyone else find it nauseating seeing these people like Merkel and Sarkozy dictating who should be in charge of another soverign state? Greece, and now it looks like Italy, being dictated to about who can and cant be the government of the day. These tvvats talk all day long about how Gadaffi and Assad and Mubarek's authoritarianism cant be tolerated and the need for democracy, and there they are knocking down fellow 'democracies' like nine pins.

This global recession has really ripped the mask away from these fraudulent bastards. (n)

Agree, but I can't say I'll be sorry to see the back of Berlusconi.

The Greek referendum debacle should cause riots. Shameful.

I saw Jeremy Paxman interviewing some Greek tourism guy last night and talking about how many swimming pools there were in Greece and calling them all liars, if I was the greeks I'd be stabbing pins into a paxman doll, arrogant turd!! Anyway down with all the bad euro people and all that

Cant stand him. If he once had a good way of getting info from unwilling interviewees, he now hides it well under a barrage of arrogance and sneering cynicism. John Pilger revealed he was a member of the British-American Project, which aims to tighten political and economic ties - an Atlanticist organisation that promotes 'western values'. Take a look at the kid gloves way he handles US rght wingers like Irwin Steltzer who come on Newsnight and compare it to the bile he turfs out to most others. I thought he was supposed to be objective? And he demands and claims some of the biggest expenses at the BBC...something he was desperate to keep covered up (along with the rest of the trough snufflers).

To be honest I haven't really seen a great deal of Paxman lately, I didn't use to mind him really but from the small bits I have seen he seems to play up to the camera and crave recognition for every wise crack and sarcy comment he makes, I half expect to see him look at the camera and give it the (y) after a smart arse comment. He can go into the massive human shredder I am developing along with many other political and non-political figures and as further punishment I shall spray the remains over analfield.

I feel I strayed off topic towards the end...

Nauseating yes, but utterly predictable once the Euro currency was created. Pretending that the economies of 17 countries could all be in sync at the same time, for ever, was, and is, fantasy economics. Said so at the time the farce was launched, just taken longer than I thought to unravel, and unravel it will do, all be it with the Euronuts denying the thing has failed.

Putting it in a footie context, I suppose it is like UEFA saying that every club in Europe can enjoy the same borrowing terms and rates of interest payable on loans as Man Utd, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich. So Bristol Rovers borrow £100m, blow it on a mega stadium, and then find it difficult to repay the loan, or even the interest, on gates of 4000 every 2 weeks. Eventually they are sussed by the markets, and if the other clubs cant/wont bail them out, the whole thing comes tumbling down.

I m not really pro or anti the EU, like most things, there are good and bad aspects, but if a fellow of reasonable intelligence could work this out years ago, how on earth did the whole project ever get set up!

The irony is, though, that there'll be even closer union now with all fiscal policy dictated from the centre...which means Berlin, in effect. Whoever said that the Euro would inevitably lead to German hegemony in Europe was spot on.

By the way, Il Duce MKII agrees to step down: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-15646536

Who do "Merkozy" want to step down next?
