Epidemic of Knobhead Clubs

mmmmsnouts

Player Valuation: £40m
Seems like lately there's been a rash of clubs that I guess you could mostly call medium-size clubs making absolutely ridiculous decisions. Blowing huge sums of money on bang average players, or sacking managers after just a few bad games, or they're simply run by crazy and/or stupid people.

I could put Swansea, Sunderland, Newcastle, Leeds, Fulham, Birmingham City, QPR, Watford, Aston Villa and Charlton in this category without any hesitation. Cardiff, Bolton, and West Ham might belong here too.

Is it just me or has the extreme riches of the Premier League made a lot of clubs go mental trying to get their hands on it?

I think that you might have a point if you were to say that clubs make k@;#head decisions, doesn't necessarily define them. Lord knows we have had plenty ourselves.

That was basically my point, although the clubs with crazy chairmen might end up being defined that way.

I also think that smart clubs like Bournemouth are taking advantage of this. A club that small should never be able to stay up in the Premier League for multiple seasons, but so many clubs are acting stupidly that they've managed it pretty easily.

If you think back to when football was invented, 1992 wasnt it, there were a few utter mentalists around. Bradford, or was it Barnsley, lobbing massive wages at sexy Italian players on long term deals.

Bournemouth will do it as well, just wait. They are building a 25-30000 new ground, fans will demand they should be at "the next level", sack Howe/Howe leaves for Arsenal, and *random rubbish manager* will take them down.

With attendances of 8000 in their shiny new ground.

It's really a feast or famine economics; there's not much choice except to leverage your future earnings through paying for players, unless you have a robust underlying economy.

Also, some of these clubs have bad ownership or a history of bad management, but that doesn't make them or their fans knobs.

And then some of them are clearly filling the stands with scruffy beauts.

Why are Sunderland nobheads by the way? Feel I've missed something there.

Just how quickly they panic and turn managers over and never do anything long term. They should be much more stable than they are.

Liverpool is the Typhoid Mary of the disease.

I thought about them a little bit. The Hodgson/Dalglish/transfer committee debacle was trending towards knobheadedness. Unfortunately they got it sorted out.

I know right. Kenwright and Bolasie sprung to mind.

I mean what sort of club gives their manager nothing to spend for 2 years and sells some of their best players?

Or imagine spending 22 million on a winger from crystal palace?

If I remember rightly when Bristol City reached the old 1st division the then chairman had the bright idea of offering massively improved long term contracts, when theproverbial hit the fan,the club had players whose wages they couldnt afford,no way of off loading the players and went into decline,so its a vicious circle in football andd it will never change
