I was only very young when I heard it and it paved the way for my obsession with the early House/Hardcore/Rave scene during my school years

That is a favourite of mine also. Add to that I have a soft spot for Fragile by Yes.

Listened to a bit of Yes during my journey through the Jethro Tull back catalogue (I was in a mini prog rock stage) - not a bad listen

*or so I was reliably informed by my Hip Hop Guru mate - a quick scan of Google makes no mention of it

never heard that before mate. Nas was never going to be able to repeat that album though he has still managed some decent tracks but some awful stuff too

Apparently he was fuming as some of his material was leaked (copies taken from the studio) so he kept some back for It Was Written and added some new material to Illmatic (again I have no idea how true this is).

Both albums are superb though so I agree it must have been daunting to try to replicate that level of quality.
