Fensta

Player Valuation: £15m
There's been a sh*tload of great keepers through the years but some stood out more than others. Forwards have always taken the plaudits but there have been a few goalies who were the best player on the pitch. From Bert Trautmann breaking his neck in the 1956 F.A cup final and playing on to get a winners medal to my personal favourite, Mexico's Jorge Campos in 94. At 5"6 he might possibly have been the shortest goalie to ever appear in the world cup.

From Wikipedia.... Campos also made for an effective striker, a rare example of versatility in football. At times, he would start a game in goal, and transfer upfield later in the match, mostly at the club level. His trademark, self-designed bright kits contributed to his popularity.

Who's ya favourite of all time ?

I'm an entertaining goalkeeper.

But I raise you a Jose Luis Chilavert.

617 games 46 goals
74 caps for Paraguay 9 goals

Emile Heskey - 62 caps, 7 goals.

On a serious note though.... a lad I know used to play in goal for QPR, MILWALL and later on Dagenham and Redbridge..... he was known around the league for the conversations he used to have with the away fans behind his goal... they used to tease him and he used to give it back.... it became a bit of a ritual to give him crap and he would return it in spades... became very well respected..... he is now a coach at Arsenal.

Beat me to it by a minute Ijjy. He transfixed me for the 1998 World Cup; hit the bar with a free kick and he was a proper mentalist all round too!

Rogério Ceni
486 games 111 goals for São Paulo

Tony Hibbert
259 games 0 goals for Everton (well he did score 1 but friendly's don't count)

Rene Higuita will always be remembered for 'that scorpian kick'

And for getting nicked in possession on the half way line to leave Milla score for Cameroon in Italia 90, great character Higuita, pretty sure he was nicked with firearms too at one point.
