He hasnt fuucked up like Lescott (Croatia game still rings loud) or Jags (against Spain). Capello like that a player doesnt mess up on his debut - its why Downing gets a game over Ashley Young.

Maybe not mess up but he's and gabby agbongies have had a chance and been non entities. Downings actually played well in 1game so capello will keep giving him a go. I think that's just the way he works

You may be right but I'd wager that it would be easier to have a screw up against top flight teams like Spain or Croatia. Not Slovakia.

In fairness to Upson, I think he's better than Terry is, though that's not really a complement these days.
