English players

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but our starting XI on Sunday had an unusually high number of English players for a top flight game.

Pickford, Garner, Tarkowski, Keane, Iroegbunam, Dewsbury-Hall, and Grealish. Throw in O'Brien from Ireland and its almost like the 80s.

I don't care where our players come from, as long as they give their all, but I can't help liking the proliferation of relatively local players in our set-up. Kind of reminds me of the days before Sky invented football.

What more proof is needed that Moyes is only carrying out the Dyche Mastermind plan?

Moyes will be lining us up in proper number order by the end of the season

Is it fair to say that the European pendulum has started swinging back over towards England again in recent years though? the national team in this generation has been arguably one of the best in the world for a good few years now and we continue to develop some really talented young players that next World Cup/first European championship is a case of 'when' not 'if' for me.

Anyway - my point is that English players seem to be more in demand in the Premier League now than they have been for years. Could have something to do with it? They are raised around the English game and those that go abroad invariably come back here and go on to have good careers.

If English players are more in demand, it's not by the Top Six lot. The RS only started one English player last night. Arsenal usually have a few, but they tend to be home-grown Londoners. We need to do more of that.

Also, I'm assuming Dibling will be starting for us soon. When Nigel Farage gets wind of this, he's going to be pestering Derek Hatton for a freebie in his corporate box.

So long as it means cut snd thrust and slidey tackles on quagmire pitches, and threw death of tika-taka stats driven boreball....I'm all for it.

So there are more available to mid table teams. I'm sure the likes of Gittens will end up at an Everton-style club in a year or two.
