Is not being arsed about England a Scouse thing or do you find most fans of prem teams to NEA as well? Just curious because everytime I see England there's tons of banners from lower league sides. Wondering if the tribalism of English teams gets in the way because you spend all your time hating on Gerrard and Terry etc. and it's not so easy to turn around and root for them in an England shirt?

Or is it a Liverpool thing?

No idea mate.

I can totally understand people not being arsed by them though.

Sadly some of my best football memories with my dad were following England. So I'm stuck with the them.

Think it's a Scouse thing for numerous reasons. I'm sure there's plenty of non-Scousers who are NEA, but there's probably more Scousers who would call England 'they' than those who'd call them 'we'.

And I think it's a lower league thing as well - bit of the big time for those fans.

Not a Liverpool thing at all JD. Think you would find that the majority of regular England followers are from lower league clubs. Partly because more footie fans support non PL clubs, (think about it), and dont get European/Cup/League success, so England is their top level fix if you like. Also, imagine the cost of following a top PL side, home and away.....

Mate of mine is Bristol Rovers nut, ST. Has seen every England game, home and away, for about 10 years.

Don't know anyone who calls them "we". Spot on that. From the Wirral me like.

There's a north/south element too. Now all the games of note are played at Wembley it's even more evident. There are England fans all over the country but when you see a flag with a name of a place you've never heard of, it's probably a London suburb.

Don't get the rival thing at all. But each to their own.

Oh and England don't excite me either. They have in the last though.

Everton haven't always excited me either!

Whenever I watch England away there is always the same Everton flag visible.

Not saying they're Scouse though but it's always there.

This.

Plus I think with a lot of people from Liverpool (and probably other Northern industrial cities), rightly or wrongly, there's still a sense of 'well you f*cked us over and the rest of the country/press hates us anyway.

And I just couldn't support a team that repeatedly plays Tom Cleverley.

Couldn't celebrate an England goal scored by Sturridge or Gerrard.

Would be pleased if Oviedo scored against them in the summer.
