India are still heavily doctoring their pitches based off the NZ series. I understand home advantage, but they're beyond a joke. Good luck.

Aussies getting hammered in South Africa. Lost two one dayers by 142 runs, and 6 wickets, 14 overs left, De Kock 178. lol

The more I read about it the more I get annoyed. I will renew next season but it seems pointless as it is almost impossible for us to go up.

Well and trully shafted.

Not fully versed in the ins and outs, but from what I can gather, they were encouraged to build a Test ground, then bid for Tests, then get given, frankly, the less attractive ones.

So Durham leaked cash, and the ECB step in. Then lamp them with a shermon tank.

Am I close?

There's been virtually universal condemnation within the media with regards to the penalties imposed on Durham.
This a good precis of the details of the saga.

Aware that this is an England Winter Cricket thread, it seems relevant. Havnt Durham supplied quite a few England Test players over the last few years?

Edit. Excuse my limited knowledge, but Stokes, Harmison, Collingwood, Harmisons mate in the 2005 Ashes win, probably more. All local as well?

Edit 2. Hoggard.

As well as Mark Wood, Scott Borthwick, Liam Plunkett and Graham Onions. Little thanks from the beanpushers at the ECB.

Durham have made mistakes. But, we were told that they had to have a home ground, had to develop it, had to bid for England game and then given terrible ones. The last being Sri Lanka in early may a week after the Leeds test.

Some great articles out from non Durham people. The club have supplied and continue to supply England with players.

The main thing is loads of clubs have higher debts but have sugar daddies or local authorities willing to help out, while Durham haven't.

Fair enough I can take the relegation as a punishment but everything else just seems spiteful. As I've said I'll renew but it's seems pointless as the ecb have decided that we can't go up or even really compete in anything.
