England squad

I got really confused there when I looked at the first page of the thread and realised it was an old squad! To be honest, as a Scotsman of 35 years I've never known us to come up against a weaker looking England squad! Lots of inexperience and players who are out of sorts (particularly the RS) if you combine that with an uninspiring manager I think Scotland have a got a real chance here!

Carrick...out for months. Plays 60mins. Gets recall.

Barry plays 2 and half seasons rejuvenated. Not a sniff.

I was thinking Barry had retired from international football, it was the only logical explanation why he hasn't featured! He should 100% be in the team, never mind the squad!

We should really be building a team that have a realistic chance of playing together in Euro 2016 and then onto Russia 2018 so from that perspective can understand why Barry hasn't been included and why Jags looks like he is being eased out.

But if you are going to include a 33 yr old defensive midfielder then you'd surely chose the one that has not only played better over last 18 months but who has not recently come back from a bad injury.

Ross Barkley is mediocre and Jack Wilshere is one of only three players you've picked who aren't.

Christ alive.

The Southampton defender Nathaniel Clyne is expected to become the 60th different player to represent England under Hodgson against Slovenia at Wembley on Saturday night, with Raheem Sterling operating at the tip of a midfield diamond.

At last looks like Clyne will get his debut.

Unfortunately for Ross it appears Sterling will be central which probably means Barkley is a sub or out wide.
