Player Valuation: £40m
I went for:
Micah Richards over Glen Johnson. He's probably as good going forward, a better defender and more versatile. Plus Johnson has been out injured for a long time.
Rob Green instead of Carson. Green will hopefully have regained confidence now that West Ham are at the top of the Championship. How can Capello judge Carson's form in Turkey?
Scott Dann ahead of Terry. I'd have let the Chelsea captain lie low and called up a younger defender for experience. It will give the likes of Jagielka, Cahill and Lescott a proper opportunity to play too.
Joey Barton instead of Walker. Richards and Jones can play at right back, so why do we need another one? The squad is really short on midfield playmakers. Barton might not be on top form, but there aren't a lot of others to choose from.
Aaron Lennon before Downing. If I was a defender, I know who I'd rather be up against. Walcott and Lennon in tandem would terrify most teams. I think Downing often flatters to deceive.
John Ruddy rather than Stockdale. Norwich are holding their own in the Premier League and Ruddy is one of the few goalkeepers at that level available to Fabio. It's a crime to overlook him.
Jermaine Defoe instead of Zamora. Defoe is the more dangerous player. We're lacking international experience in that area of the field, which also gives Jermaine the edge.
