Maybe he offers something 'different' to the other strikers but surely there are forwards more deserving or more worth looking at than defoe

Apparently Brazil are under-performing at present, but I still suspect they'll tonk us a fortnight on Sunday.

Oh well, should be a top trip. This time next week, I'll hopefully be spending my first day on the Copacabana ;-)

I'd have Defoe in there every day of the week.

As for Lambert, despite my bias, he is just a cart horse. So it's either him or Carroll. And Carroll is always going to be picked over Lambert.

So come on the chaps, pick your 1 from those players:

Hart
Walker - Jagielka - Cahill - Baines
Carrick
Lampard (C) - Milner
Walcott - Rooney - Sturridge

And I didn't like putting Sturridge in there! From doing that it's plain to see our midfield is utterley terrible.

Oh god yes it is mate. But can't pick too many more that aren't there. Wilshire maybe but he's crocked. Can't think who else i'd add to it.

Defence is decent, attack is just about OK, but the midfield is horrible

Not just you. I hate Gerrard but without him, that squad doesn't look very special.

Poor midfield, I wouldn't be surprised if we played Phil Jones as a holding mid.

That's what I thought, that midfield compared to say Belgium or Holland, looks horrific.

Saying that, Belgium's midfield looks better than most in world football. If they gel properly before the World Cup, they'll be worth a punt.

I have seriously started to have doubts about England even qualifying for the World Cup. we just don't have the players, which in turn in criminal really.

You're not wrong about Belgium. I've managed them on FIFA (i know!) and it's hard to pick. The only thing they are really lacking is decent full backs.

You should qualify, you've still got Montenegro at home haven't you? I reckon Jones isn't a bad shout for centre mid, he's been playing well for United hasn't he? Maybe have him and Carrick holding with Oxlade-Chamberlain in behind either Rooney or Sturridge?

Rooney is a funny one. For me i'd have him behind a main striker (Carroll maybe) or maybe even a front 2 if we wanted to really go for it.

Think I left Jones out because he has a funny face.
