All got medals today, and a troop out at Wembley.
Must have been a big magnum of champagne to get Greavsie involved.
Anyway, well done all, and it was nice to see Bally on TV again, even for a moment.

Greavsie looked pissed for the interview

I don't get why people who didn't play a single minute should get medals. England didn't even have to qualify, so most of them did literally nothing to get those medals. Why doesn't Labone get a medal? He was in the original squad, and did just as much as those in the squad who didn't play.

It's not really that they are getting the medals that bothers me, it's that they are being talked about as heroes. They did bugger all! They sat in the crowd and watched 11 others play brilliantly to win it, along with 80,000 others.

Pretty obvious why Labby didn't get one tonight? It's taken years of work to convince Fifa to hand out medals to the squad, unfortunately he passed on before he had the chance to receive recognition.

I agree on your points about the 0 minute players, should be a 1/2 game limit

No, Labby quit the squad to get married or something. He wasn't in the actual squad. My point was that he did just as much as those in the squad who didn't play.

Surely anybody who wasn't in the first XI would have also got a mdeal posthumously? I'm mildly surprised that every single member of the squad (outside the first XI) are still alive.

Saw this on the BBC website:

"David Cocker accepted a medal on behalf of his father, team physio Les Cocker, and Margaret Shepherdson received a medal on behalf of her husband, team trainer Harold Shepherdson."

Presumably they've passed on, and still got the medal.

I meant 1-2 as in 1 or 2.

I honestly didn't know that about Labby, not that clued up on England 66
