England future

we could form a british team and it would look a bit better with ben davies, bale, ramsey and john williams in there

and maybe scotland has one? ah yeah that young lid gauld at dundee united

you'd think the future was fairly bright with rave reviews that are given for e.g. ward-prowse, will hughes, berahino, but we all know that english media go well over the top after one or two good performances, i mean look how they went totally overboard about sterling because he sored against reading?

Wilshire, Barkley & Lallana have every chance of being a better unit than Beckham/Gerrard/Lampard, who never did fit together and were always far less than the sum of their parts.

Wilshire is fairly over-rated, though. He needs to work on his game big time.

Lallana's call for Schneiderlin to be capped by England is a good shout. We really lack a specialist defensive midfielder and he normally puts in the most successful tackles in the league.

He hasn't represented them in a senior competitive match and next year he qualifies for England because of residency rules.

Well theres, this :

Morgan Schneiderlin says he is dreaming about wearing the France shirt one day after impressing for Southampton.

The 24-year-old Obernai-born player has been at the South Coast club since the age of 18, but has been consistently overlooked by his homeland.

Midfield linchpin Schneiderlin has represented France from U16's right up to the U21's, but has continually been ignored at full international level.

However, Schneiderlin insists his dream is to one day wear Les Bleus' team jersey and is hoping he will receive a call-up from Didier Deschamps in the future so long as the Saints continue to do well.

He told L'Equipe newspaper: "A lot of people tell me, 'If you were English, you would already be in national team.

"My name is largely unknown in France, which is logical because I joined Southampton when they were playing in the Championship as an 18-year-old.

"Let's face it, Southampton is a club that doesn't make people dream. But my objective is to play for the French national team.

"I stand a good chance of a call-up if we remain in Premier League top six because we will then attract more interest.

"My success has shut a lot of people up who told me that I would lose myself at Southampton."

And this :

In November 2013, various British media outlets reported that Schneiderlin was eligible to represent England. Under Article 8.1, Regulations Governing The Application Of The Statutes, FIFA Statutes, Schneiderlin is only eligible to represent France at international level as he has played at various age-levels in UEFA competitions prior to gaining British citizenship.

But thats only wiki and cant find anything to back that up.

Lallana and Pochettino have backed Schneiderlin for an England call up.

I imagine they 'notionally' support him switching nations but that it hasn't been fully explored whether he would actually be eligible. I remember reading somewhere recently (perhaps with the Januzaj case) that players had to decide early which nation they were representing and it might turn out that he can't wear the tree lions anyway.
