England Assessment

Player Valuation: £70m
Ok,

I know we are Evertonians and to some England don't matter. Well they do to me and I like to see England do well as I am a patriot.

Ok, initially I was flabbergasted to see the manager overlook one Joleon Lescott once again and maintain Wes Brown, but there we go.

First Half -
Looked good, Lampard did what Lampard should have been doing for England, and he did it well. Micah Richards is a [Poor language removed] superstar and must be worth in excess of 20 million.

Beckham looked good for an old dude and can still pass a ball. But why oh why have we gone with two strikers who one has no striker experience in the past two years and the other has played very little football. Poor Jermaine Defoe must be close to doing a Carragher.

Both looked sketchy and Owen missed a guilt chance to make it two.

In defence we looked shocking. Even Terry is now starting to lose his Mr Dependable reputation, and as for Ferdinand, can this boy not head the ball?

Paul Robinson though is worrying me, I don't think he has recovered from the Croatia incident.

Shorey looked good, but lacked confidence I find. Joe Cole also looked menacing.

Carrick played.

Second Half, 2-1 down and I felt we needed to step up a gear and beat a mediocre German team. Not only because it Germany but because its at Wembley and we need to build confidence.

So James comes on for Robinson, and Wes Brown came on for Ferdinands injury - otherwise known as Taggerts Option.

So we lose Richards marauding runs and are left with Wes Brown who just looks to give the ball to someone else as soon as he gets it.

We started chasing the game and then that smiling piece of [Poor language removed] decided to [Poor language removed] the game up once and for all, and take of our two strikers and replace them with a player who has never fulfilled his potential and having made an England debut over 6 years ago has still not scored, oh and he brings on [Poor language removed] Crouch who can't head the ball, yet invites long passes everytime he plays.

Do we ever learn? Crouch can't head the [Poor language removed] ball!!!!

Crouch can't control the [Poor language removed] ball!!!!

A joke, a [Poor language removed] joke.

Again poor Jermaine Defoe.

Now in order to give Beckham a game, which he needs for fitness. He decided to take off Joe Cole who I thought was a threat and replace him with SWP who although did ok, is not a left sided midfielder, especially when we have Downing on the bench who is.

Personally though I would have brought Dyer on for Cole if I had to, and replace Smith with Defoe. But not McClaren.

Now I can harp on all day about this [Poor language removed] but I won't I'll just say this. He [Poor language removed] charms the press before a game and then takes the "positives" after the game. But during the game he hasn't a tactical brain cell in his head. He can't change the team, he obviously can't motivate the team. He's a shocking excuse for an England manager. Hurry up Pearce, get some wins and get yourself in the senior manager role, because christ we need it.

Now some say, cmon Nick its only a friendly, well let me tell you this, if Everton and Liverpool were playing in a friendly, would the result matter? [Poor language removed] right it would.

once shearer led the side

once adams led the side

once robson led the side

of the three above, they showed heart, committment, devotion, and fight.

no one in thesquad now that has that element.

a ship without a captain isnt a ship.

Sorry, went al little off-topic there. Navigation is my primary job in the Navy.

But as for what you guys are saying. I agree wholeheartedly. McLaren offers nothing but ineptitude to the National team set-up. He was clearly second choice for the job (possibly 3rd or 4th or 5th)and has cracked under pressure and should get the sack and quickly if England want to get something from Euro '08.

im not convinced on terry, if england is such a powerhouse of football, where is the roy keane?

i didnt see a single player on the field tonight that would rather die than lose.

He must have died quite a few times then, probably from that tackle he jumped out of against Brazil in the 2002 quarters.

You can almost review England without ever having watched them play. We start ok then the tempo drops, we let the opposition back into the game, they win. Except of course sometimes we start badly.

When we stop picking star players and start picking a team then we might make some progress.

Until then, I think I'll forget about supporting England.

How the [Poor language removed] Owen can even get into the squad let alone the starting 11 after playing about 80 minutes of football is beyond me. How Wes Brown can get into the squad ahead of Lescott is a joke.

Well this how clueless McClaren is. He takes off Ferdinand and instead of replacing him with a natural centre back, he moves Micah Richards off the flanks into the centre where he does not naturally play, and thus negating his attacking promise, which was instrumental in our goal.

Oh and at this point we were losing and needed to be attacking.

Crummy display not always the players at fault but agree with many points raised,

why is Brown preferred to Lescott?

Dyer IMO is dire, how can Mclaren play him as a striker when he has not scored any goals in some 30 odd games?

Okay Lampard scored but I do think he should be left out for a while.

Cannot understand why mclaren birngs on a right footed player to play on the left wing.

Load of bollocks.

Well the right footed player he brought on was to replace a right footed player on the left. Its all [Poor language removed] up.
