Welbeck starting out wide (twice!) was hilarious.

It'd probably still be Heskey out there if he didn't have the decency to retire because they wouldn't stop picking him.

With regards to this, Baines made some cracking runs up the left in the first only to be ignored by this idiot who kept cutting inside and then losing possesion.

How many other teams in this tournament would have taken Welbeck, never mind played him.

english football innit mate, we as a country are far too willing to sacrifice technical abilities like this for willing disciplined runners, its starts early and becomes a systematic problem, even at everton we are guilty of being accepting of the same thing from 'good pro's'

It's a sad state of affairs really isn't it. The press will have the usually inquest into what went wrong, ie not being technical enough and players not being international quality, but the same will happen again in 4 years time when the next crop of Welbecks' are running headlessly around the premier league and still making the national team.

Hard work can help you win things, but it can't come at the expense of quality.

thats the worst thing, everytime its the same thing about changing things, maybe they are at the grass roots levels, i haven't been near that side of things for ages, but like you say it will be the usual, and 6 months later we will be applauding players for launching the ball out of play, letting the ball run out for a thrown in instead of taking possession and championing 'hard working, honest pro's'. As you say, no way does a wellbeck get accepted in any other nation in that position, I harp on about phil neville, but 59 caps the guys got, thats more than glenn hoddle, that doesnt happen in any other supposedly top nation

Epitaph for English football for nigh on 30+ years that mate. The top clubs buying in skill from abroad tells it's own story.

Suarez, Berkamp, Zola, Henry, Gullit, Klinsman, Drogba, Cantona, Ronaldo etc we haven't produced anything near such players since the 70s.

When we do, such as Waddle, Beardsley and Le Tissier, we don't give them a proper crack at it either. Tall poppy syndrome has a lot to play in this too.

I tell you something England as a team they ignored Baines runs every time over the two games.

Infact England's best spell last night came when for 5 mins or so when Barkley first came on, the team actually were looking for Baines! Then it stopped again....

That has to be down to management and his tactics telling the team to try play thru the middle. Very poor. Should of took and probably played Cole if that was his tactics!

Gerrard - Tournement to far
Johnson - Rubbish player
Henderson - Average player
Welbeck - Not good enough
Rooney - doesn't suit the times
Sterling - Masively overrated

Llanna - Barkley - Wiltshire, would of all been starting for better teams than England!

Cya Roy.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

England do not have a team, they have 23 players. And until you all bury your hatchets and give a manager time to build a team based on a strategy and not just talent, this is how it will be.

Minus one bet I have going, I don't actually get enjoyment out of seeing England flop. I want to see Everton players do well.

Get it together, lads.
