It's not all Hodgson's fault, it's just in his DNA the same as it was with Moyes. Granted he took a lot of promising youngsters to Brazil and that is a start but, like Moyes with Barkley, couldn't quite trust them to start with them. He's a safety first manager and that is why he's not won much.

True but in matters such as the WC the manager should be prepared to be flexible. Hodgson never entered the technical area remained in the dugout, never took notes or urged his players on, just sat there with Neville not talking or anything. As regards the WC to get a better perspective look at his record in the qualifying rounds. I have never been convinced that Hodgson was a good manager, look at the players he had at Liverpool and still a dismal record. So yes IMO he is rubbish.

Absolutely no question that Hodgson should have dropped Gerrard. No question at all.

But I don't think whoever was in charge would have had the bottle to do it.

Great post that mate it seems a disease in the UK probably because manager wages outstrip anything elsewhere. The charlatans are more concerned about their place on the gravy train than ambition. Any spirit or endeavour is lost by the time young lads get in all of a sudden they become formula footballers (just look what happened to Rodwell) and the moment has gone.

And Rooney to a large extent.
