It makes sense to cancel it but I still think that could have been avoided if they had pulled their finger out and acted a little quicker.

Probably why it took the club so long to make the official announcement. That's a lot of work that has to be stopped.

Only Everton could wait until 2 hours before it starts to cancel it. Should've been done first thing, although if we'd never appointed Martinez it'd still be on.

I suspect they were trying to ride it out until end of season.

Still, could/should have made the call sooner - suspect they will have annoyed a number of sponsors.

Could they have not announced he was going at the end of the season then? That would of quelled all protests and majority of anger.

Agreed - Maybe that is what they were trying to do and RM threw a fit. In fairness it would have been very awkward/humiliating to hand out awards knowing your sacked to players that clearly didn't want to play for him any more... Just a mess - If it had been handled post SF this all would have been avoided.
