The BBC report: Turkey international Emre Belozoglu has been given a two-and-a-half-month suspended prison sentence for a racist slur he used against Ivorian midfielder Didier Zokora during a match in 2012.
But here's the joke:- The sentence was suspended by the court because the 33-year-old had not committed any previous offences of a racist nature, and in the belief that he would not repeat his behaviour. Unbelievable isn't it?

I don't advocate racism but you can't keep putting people in jail for things like this.

Think that's okay myself mate, keep a heavy sentence hanging over him incase he does it again.
Saying that, what does it all mean when FIFA dilute the term and abuse it for their own ends ?

Prison is a grossly obscene sentence for such an offence, suspended or otherwise.

More bothered about that than anything he could possibly have said.

Did he not racially abuse one of our lads when playing for Newcastle? Lescott/Yobo was it?

Yer, think so, i remember Lescott Joey and Tim Howard being incensed at something a Barcode player had said or done, think it was him.

Do not place your own asterisks in order to avoid the swear filter
Zokora already got his justice in a fairly spectacular way. Love that he only got a yellow too...

See, that's what I mean.
10x worse than saying something mean. F**king sticks and stones - boo hoo.

Nasty below-the-belt X-rated 'tackle' though and you're congratulating it? Well played mate

I'm not going to feel sorry for someone who has been accused of racism consistently throughout his career getting a kick in the balls from someone he has racially abused. I'd also say racism is a quite a bit worse than simply "saying something mean".
