I think it's very sad what happened to Paul, not just in terms of his career, with the injuries, but off the field. To me he has always come across as a simple man who just wanted to play football. But he was surrounded by vultures and hangers on who wanted his money and the press who wanted to build him up and tear him down. He has never seemed to have the support he needs, this is still going on now, he is battling depression and alcoholism and the sad fact is, his fate could ultimately be the same as Gary Speed, or George Best.

I hope for his sake that it isn't, but it seems he will have to make his recovery in the glare of the media spotlight.

I agree with what your saying to an extent but he has to take responsibility of himself really, he loved playing the fool And it's lead him to where he is now. Most exciting British Player I've seen, he really was a good player.

I was hoping Barkley would be as good but I may have to rethink that one.
