While I agree that was the golden period, he's made plenty of great records since then. Spike, Mighty Like a Rose, The Juliet Letters, Brutal Youth, and All This Useless Beauty are fantastic.

I'm not wild about his most recent output though. Still a huge fan.

His later stuff needs listening to a few times to really understand the music as it's not catchy pop songs like the early stuff.

Still got my 'Elvis is a Stiff' badge somewhere brought out by Stiff Records when the pretend Elvis died.
 
Love Elvis, this for me though is his best, my Mums a sufferer and he's got this spot on. The acoustic version last night was stunning

Never knew what this was about to be honest, but that back story makes it even better. He is definitely one of the greats.
 
I'm pretty sure the inside of the cover of Armed Forces has photos of a house on Ford Hill, Birkenhead.

One of the greatest singer-songwriters ever.
