Just watching his latest YouTube video and he confirms that Newcastle wanted him before they signed Karius

They offered him a contact but he turned down the move because he couldn’t deal with being away from his family. He said if he was younger it would have been a no brainer but he’s 39 with kids and an established base in the midlands and he couldn’t deal with the upheaval.

He also had very high praise for Dan Ashworth for how he dealt with the situation.
