Interesting move.

Presuming we do our customary early exit from the League Cup, can't see it having much effect.

In the unlikely event of us going on a League Cup run with multiple home ties, this might mean a scramble for away games that go down to 2-4 credits.

The majority of those attending home games don't go to aways, with perhaps the only exceptions being the local aways that are easier to get to (always a scramble for LFC and the Manc clubs).

Basically, if you go every away you'll still be all right.

I do think it's a bit weird how they're valuing going to an away game at say Southampton, with all the extra expensive and time commitment that entails, and valuing that on a par with attending a home game. Some might say a cynical slap in the face, simply to ensure bigger attendances for home cup fans.

This is similar to what the FA now do for England tickets where the value of a "cap" for going to Wembley is the same as one from Andorra away.

Doesnt seem right somehow.

Just to expose how ridiculously transparent this idea is as a money grabbing exercise for the club to increase Goodison attendance - as things stand a person will get an away credit for attending a home cup game but NOT for attending an away cup game.

It's stupid that you don't get them for away cup games.

I don't see the issue. If you can be bothered to go to Southampton away in the cup then going to a home game isn't an issue.

One of the benefits of going to away games has always been that you'll be more likely to get a ticket for the really popular matches like Liverpool away. They're essentially punishing away fans who will now be paying £40 or £50 for a ticket when somebody can pay £15 for a cup game and get the same reward.

Besides, their 'reason' for doing this makes no sense at all. They first say that away tickets are relatively easy to get, and then go on to say that it will improve access to away games. All they're trying to do is get more money off people by persuading more fans to attend cup games. I have no problem with the club trying to generate legitimate revenue and increase attendances but punishing the away following to do so is wrong.

I guess it is because the allocation is always higher for cup games? Well, aways at a big ground anyrate. There is some logic in it at least.

That logic doesn't apply any more, because now they're giving away credits for home cup games, where the 'allocation' is what, 30,000 odd?

Also away games are not just about the extra expense of a ticket.

There's the extra time and travelling people do as well, that is being totally devalued here by the club.

It's a cynical attempt to boost the Goodison coffers, by trying to get more fans to go to Cup games and also to avoid surplus away tickets that the club may have paid for.

Here's an idea to boost home cup game attendance - CUT THE PRICES! £10 adults & £5 kids for early rounds, £15 & £5 for later rounds.

Watch us get Burton Albion at home or someone like that, and they'll be charging £20 for that.

It's going to increase re-sale of away tickets at higher prices as well.

Say we play four cup games and four away league ties . Normally if you had four aways you'd be confident of getting good seats for most away games. Now you'd be competing for those tickets with 10,000 plus people on top.

Sole reason is to get people who aren't ST holders, to be season ticket holders.

They aren't soft in what they are doing, and basically spell it out in their statement.

'Oh yer, 10 games went to general sale last season, so by doing this, there is no chance, so if you want to go to the aways, buy a Season Ticket you cheapskate, kind regards, Everton'
