My dad was the staff manager for the Littlewoods City Offices from 70 to 75, then the personnel manager for the chain store division from 75 to 79, and finally the Principal Personnel Manager for the entire Littlewoods Group from 79 to 83 (so was there for the last few years of "the old man's" involvement with the company, and worked fairly closely with him at times. The stuff about him not liking Catholics isn't factually incorrect - but back there and back then he was hardly the only person in the area who held those (or the opposite) opinions.

However in a football sense, he was very definitely an Everton fan - perhaps not in his early years, but once he was involved in the club it went right to his heart.

Ha Ha. I love this way of saying "its true".
